Everyone has the capacity to heal. We usually need support getting started.
Welcome to The Rooted Method Counselling, a client-centered practice, focused on fostering a safe place to explore the root of what is causing you pain, and heal with support.
We receive countless messages from youth to adulthood to repress our needs and fit into societal norms. This creates an environment where to be accepted, we need to disown parts of ourselves. This can be very confusing, and lead to a constant internal battle between all aspects of our psyche.
Consistent turmoil has an impact, not only our bodies but how we show up in the world. It can look like pain in our tummy, disrupted menstrual cycles, low energy, anxiety, binge eating, perfectionism and trouble with relationships.
Healing what is happening externally, starts with having an understanding and connection to how we feel internally and what might be influencing that.
That’s not always easy, especially on our own. Counselling is a way to move into a space of exploration of internal values, needs and feelings, with support.
Looking at your roots, so your flowers can bloom.
My Approach
My work with clients utilizes a trauma-informed, attachment-based approach. While we explore what is happening in your life right now (challenges with relationships to others and ourselves, shame, perfectionism, eating disorders, overwhelming coping mechanisms), we also explore what happened to you.
I lean on integrating the tools and techniques from many different modalities and theories such as somatic therapy, internal family systems (parts work), acceptance and commitment therapy, narrative therapy, and DBT. With that being said my practice is strengths-based and person-centered, which means the most important tool in my toolbox is creating a non-judgemental space for you to feel validated in your shares. I am sex work-affirming and committed to supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences, ensuring that they feel seen, heard, and respected in their healing journey.
Together, we’ll look at how your belief systems and past experiences impact you today and co-create a way forward that supports your needs.
